Draymond Green commented on the tensions between Luka Doncic and Karl-Anthony Towns that have been talked about after Game 4.
His underwhelming shooting and struggles in clutch moments drew criticism from fans, but it was his perceived ‘foul-hunting’ against Karl-Anthony Towns that ignited a heated debate.
During a crucial play, Doncic was believed to have intentionally fouled Towns, who was already in foul trouble. The incident quickly went viral, with many discussing the call and questioning Doncic’s motives. Draymond Green weighed in on the matter during an episode of his podcast, admitting that Doncic does indeed hunt for fouls.
“Yes, Luka [Doncic] does hunt fouls. There are also a lot of other guys in the NBA that [do]… The particular play where he fouled [Karl-Anthony Towns] out… KAT jumped so far that you almost had to call it,” Green commented.
Despite acknowledging Doncic’s tactics, Green also emphasized that Towns was partly to blame for the foul, as he leaned forward excessively, leaving referee Scott Foster with no choice but to make the call.
Green further noted that while Doncic is known for seeking fouls, he is also a formidable shot-maker. In this instance, Towns’ own movement contributed to the foul being called.
Fortunately for the Timberwolves, Towns’ absence did not hinder their performance, as the team managed to secure a victory and avoid a sweep by the Dallas Mavericks. Towns’ contributions prior to fouling out were instrumental in helping Minnesota close out the game successfully.
