Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks’ player, spoke to the media before Game 4 of the NBA Finals series against the Boston Celtics.
No NBA team has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in the Finals, but Dallas Mavericks’ star guard Luka Doncic remains hopeful as they face off against the Boston Celtics.
In Game 3, Doncic’s defensive performance was less than stellar. Known for his offensive brilliance throughout the season, he struggled defensively against the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
Defense has never been Doncic’s forte. Despite his 6’7″ frame, the guard doesn’t put in as much effort on defense as he does on offense, where his abilities are diverse and impressive. Even so, the Slovenian All-Star averaged an impressive 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists during the regular season.
While this strategy works in the regular season, it becomes harder to overlook Doncic’s defensive lapses in the high-pressure environment of the Finals. This was evident when he tried to draw a charge against All-Star wing Jaylen Brown in transition, only to be called for a blocking foul, leading to his ejection from the game.
Following the game, Doncic addressed reporters, sharing his thoughts on the Mavericks’ performance against the Celtics. In a post shared by Grant Afseth on X, the Slovenian star offered a defiant perspective on the NBA Finals,
“Luka Doncic on facing a 3-0 series deficit: “Like I said, it’s not over till it’s over. We just got to believe. Like I always say, it’s first to four. We’re going to stay together. We lose together, we win together. So we got to stay together,” Afseth tweeted.
