Despite a challenging rookie season marked by limited playing time, Sasha Vezenkov is committed to honoring his contract with the Sacramento Kings and has no intention of leaving the NBA, according to reliable insider reports.
Insider Sean Cunningham clarifies, “Despite frustrations over playing time in his debut NBA season with the Sacramento Kings, multiple sources confirm there is no truth to reports of Sasha Vezenkov seeking an exit from the league. One close to Vezenkov dismissed the speculation as ‘off base,’ affirming his commitment to fulfill his contractual obligations.”
Cunningham also notes that while the Kings value Sasha Vezenkov, there is interest in him from other teams, possibly offering a more significant role than he currently enjoys in Sacramento.
Earlier reports by Eurohoops had suggested Vezenkov had informed the Kings of his desire not to return for the second year of his contract. However, with one guaranteed year remaining on his $20 million deal, including a team option for the following season, the Kings face decisions on his future, including the possibility of a trade.
Vezenkov, who struggled to secure a consistent role in the Kings’ rotation during a season that saw them miss the playoffs, averaged 5.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game with a solid 37.5% three-point shooting in 42 regular-season appearances.
