Miroslav Raduljica and Stefan Peno’s Maroussi had their coach ejected, and for the rest of the game, his wife took over.
Georgios Skarifagis, the coach of the Athens club, had taken over the team after Vassilis Spanoulis left his position as head coach. During today’s intense game against PAOK, Skarifagis was ejected with just seven minutes remaining, and his team lost 80-75. However, something historic happened during the game.
His assistant, Vasileia Gouzini, inadvertently became the first woman in the history of Greek basketball to lead a team. The team’s coach had words of praise for her after the match.
“Vasileia is a very good coach. I hope she will be the new coach of the team when I leave the club,” Skarifagis said at the end of last season.
It’s worth noting that despite their loss to PAOK, Serbian players Raduljica and Peno had a significant impact on the game, each scoring 13 points for Maroussi.
