Chris Wood has become the newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers, signing a two-year deal with the California team.
This news was confirmed by well-informed American journalist Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN. He also confirmed that Wood has an option to exit the contract and become a free agent in the second year of the deal.
Last summer, the American joined the Dallas Mavericks, but it was an overall forgettable season. The team from Texas missed the playoffs, and despite being one of the better performers last season, Wood was removed from the team.
During the past season, Chris Wood averaged 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in a Dallas jersey. Over the next year, he will earn $5.7 million.
He gained recognition while playing for the Houston Rockets and also had stints with the Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, and the Philadelphia 76ers. He was undrafted and worked his way up through the NBA G League. He tweeted that he has always wanted to be a Laker.
Itβs always been my dream to be a laker ππ

He is the fifth addition to the Lakers this season. Alongside him, the team has also acquired Taurean Prince, Jaxson Hayes, Gabe Vincent, and Cam Reddish. Additionally, new contracts have been signed by DβAngelo Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura.
