Tenerife defeated Unicaja by 91:83 in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals.
Unicaja started the game with three successful three-pointers, creating a lead by 12-6. Tenerife, on the other hand, went on a 10:3 run, but even that wasn’t enough to stop Unicaja, which hit four more three-pointers before the end of the first quarter. After the first 10 minutes of play, it was clear to everyone that we would witness an exciting game until the end – 26:26.
Tenerife outplayed their opponents for seven minutes during the second quarter, but towards the end, Unicaja went on an 11:1 run, thus regaining the lead before halftime by 49:45. Tenerife went on a 12:0 run in the third quarter, thus gaining a new lead and then holding onto it until the end of the period by 66:65. Tenerife went on an 11:2 run during the last three minutes of the game, securing the victory and advancing to the semifinals of the Copa del Rey.
The top performer for Unicaja was Dylan Osetkowski with 16 points. For Tenerife, the leading scorers were Aaron Doornekamp with 25 points and Kyle Guy with 23 points.
Tenerife will face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinals. In the case of advancing to the final, they will play against the winner between Real Madrid and Valencia.
