Aaron Gordon was a guest of his teammate Nikola Jokic during the summer and spent some time with him in Serbia. He talked about his impressions of Sombor in an interview with ESPN.
The Denver Nuggets had a fantastic playoff run last season, winning the NBA Championship. They defeated the Miami Heat 4-1 in the finals.
The great team atmosphere was evident in the summer when Aaron Gordon visited Nikola Jokic, who hosted his teammate in his hometown of Sombor, Serbia.
“Nikola Jokic’s routine is special. I’ve seen how he finds his peace, which he then brings to the court when he plays. That’s what allows him to be such a great player. I wanted to bet on his horse in a horse race, but he told me not to jinx him.”
Gordon expressed his enthusiasm for Serbia. The power forward enjoyed the food and the culture of the country.
“The food is phenomenal, and the portions are huge. The architecture is amazing. I feel like all the buildings are unique. People in Serbia live healthily and at a leisurely pace,” Gordon concluded.
Denver will aim to defend their title in the new season. Their first opponent will be the Los Angeles Lakers, whom they swept in the Western Conference Finals last season.
