Chasson Randle arrives in Athens, and it will be reinforcement number 11 for AEK, which on paper looks really incredible.
The team that brought the most bombastic names this summer is definitely a Greek club. AEK has decided to make a more than competent team for the FIBA Champions League, and it should not be surprising if they mess up calculations in the domestic championship as well. The arrivals of Ben McLemore and Mfiondu Kabengele rang out like a bombshell, but it obviously didn’t end there.
However, this is not the end of the reinforcements that have NBA experience. Last in line is the aforementioned Randle. This is a former Real Madrid player, who in his career recorded 119 matches in the strongest league in the world.
In the 2017-18 season, Randle played for Real Madrid and clinched the EuroLeague championship with the Spanish giants. The 30-year-old point guard has also played in the NBL for the New Zealand Breakers and in China with the Tianjin Pioneers. He arrives at AEK from Puerto Rico and Leones de Ponce.
In NBA he played for Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, and Orlando Magic. During that time, Randle averaged 5.7 points and 1.8 assists. Before Randle, AEK had also signed Justin Tillman, Mfiondu Kabengele, Ben McLemore, Jordan McRae, Langston Hall, and Mindaugas Kuzminskas as foreign players.
