Aleksa Avramovic shared his initial thoughts after Partizan’s convincing defeat to Maccabi in Tel Aviv with a score of 96-81.
The black and white team displayed a lackluster performance in the opening of the new EuroLeague season, and Aleksa Avramovic emphasized that everyone in the team is aware of the reasons for the loss.
“I would like to congratulate Maccabi Tel Aviv on a well-deserved victory. We were terrible in defense, and that decided the winner. We had too many turnovers, and they capitalized on that with easy points in transition. We weren’t fully focused on defensive assignments, lacked aggression, and they punished us with easy baskets.“
The Serbian national team representative concluded the game with 24 points, as the top scorer for “Parni Valjak” (Partizan), but there is no reason for celebration.
“It was a tough away game from which we can only draw lessons. We have preparations ahead for Krka and Asvel. We’re going to analyze now, and we already know a lot of what we did wrong. Our transition defense was terrible; we were really bad in that aspect. The foundation of any defense is to concede as few points in transition as possible, and we allowed over 20 points. You can’t win like that. Now we need to lift our heads and focus on the analysis to improve certain aspects,” emphasized Avramovic.
