In an extensive interview for “Mozzart Sport“, Aleksa Avramovic summarized his impressions from the past FIBA World Cup.
The Serbian defender spoke about qualifying for the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris next year. He points out that he thinks about it every day and said what the goal is for him.
“I already think about the Olympic Games in Paris every day. I can’t stop thinking and I will continue to think. As for me, drop the ball now, let’s go. We will go out in Paris with a strong line-up, whatever it is. After all, it doesn’t even matter. Certainly our goals will be the same. We are attacking the medal“, Avramovic pointed out.
Afterwards, he referred to the injury to Borisa Simanic. Avramovic said that through a conversation with Professor Dragan Radovanovic, he only found out later how rare this case is.
“Professor Gaga Radovanović explained to me how rare this case is. If that situation happened again now, it probably wouldn’t end with such an injury. And really, we’ve already talked about it. He is a true hero.
Borisa is someone who really united us, brought us together. And in the most difficult and critical moment for him, he managed to send us a message, while he was fighting for his life, and he remembered that we were playing in the quarterfinals. Now, I shudder to think about it. That gave us the biggest motivation to run out onto the floor,” said the Partizan guard.
When asked who surprised him the most in this Serbian team, the energetic defender gave an interesting answer. He is a former Crvena zvezda player.
“In my opinion, Ognjen Dobric did the best job with us because he did absolutely everything on the field, and you can’t notice it off the field. He literally does everything for the team and he was the key to us losing the final. His absence gave the Germans the advantage they needed. He played the best basketball of his life and was our best player. Statistics do not see what he did and should not see. Svetislav Pesic saw it and that’s how it should be“, concluded Aleksa Avramovic.
