Aleksander Balcerowski reflects on a challenging season that concluded with him securing two trophies with Panathinaikos.
Despite these successes, limited court time has prompted the Polish center to reassess his priorities and future in the sport.
The Polish international participated in only 24 out of 41 games in the premier competition. When included in the 12-man squad, his playing time was restricted, averaging less than 8 minutes per game. During this period, Balcerowski averaged 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, with a disappointing 11.1% shooting from beyond the arc, which made his contributions less impactful.
“On a personal level, this season was quite tough for me,” the 23-year-old shared with BasketNews and continued:
“I experienced a lot of highs and lows, with inconsistent playing time. It’s challenging to manage yourself in such situations when you’re uncertain about your playing opportunities or when your chance will come.
These trophies are a form of solace for me and for all the teammates who didn’t get as much playing time or didn’t have the season they envisioned.”
“It’s not easy being on a team where everybody can be a EuroLeague All-Star. It was my first real year in the EuroLeague and I wish things could have gone a little bit differently. But you have to keep going. I’m still young, and I have a lot to learn.
You never know when the chance comes. You never know when you’re not going to play either. At this level, you must always be ready and prepared for the game. Like all teams, we had good and bad moments
But what defined us is that we won the Greek championship and the EuroLeague title. We were able to achieve what we wanted at the beginning of the season. Everybody’s happy, regardless of the situation they’re in” – said Aleksander Balcerowski.
