The Spanish coach wasn’t dissatisfied with his team’s performance, he emphasized how they bravely fought despite being significantly behind just a few minutes before the end of the game.
“This was a game against one of the best teams in the entire league. We started poorly, we didn’t play solidly in the first quarter like we did in the other three, but if you want to beat a team like Monaco, you can’t be out of the game for a whole quarter. I’m proud of my players, we fought until the end, even though we were seven points behind with five minutes to go. With good defense, we managed to put ourselves in a situation to be one or two shots away from win,” said Alex Mumbru.
Valencia will face Maccabi Tel Aviv away in the next round, while Monaco will visit Asvel.
