Since he left the Euroleague back in February last year, after the aggression on Ukraine resulted in a ban of Russian teams from the European competitions, Alexey Shved might find his way back to it quite soon.
In interview with Viktor Pavlenko, former CSKA player as well, the 34-year-old shooting prodigy confirmed that he’s on the verge of leaving the club from Moscow. Since it was reported by Russian basketball insider, Artem Komarov, Shved revealed that there was a significant interest from China and several Euroleague clubs, including Olympiacos.

In his second stint with CSKA Moscow from 2021, Shved averaged 16.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 7.6 assists in almost 26 minutes per game in 34 appearances. However, not securing even the VTB finals, his first stint with Army Men from 2006 to 2012 was much more successful with the Euroleague title in 2008.
Before two stints with his maiden professional team, Shved spent six years with Khimki Moscow, as a leader of that generation. We could say that he reached his prime in that era, being named the 2016-17 Eurocup MVP. He also moved overseas and had episodes with Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets and New York. At 34 years-old, Shved still has some gas left in the tank. The question remains if he will find the right culture for his style of play and his quirky nature.
