Andrea Trinchieri, the coach of Zalgiris, addressed the media ahead of the 19th round EuroLeague game in which his team travels to face Asvel.
The Italian coach made his debut on the Zalgiris bench with a win in the last round against Alba. On the other side is another Italian coach, Gianmarco Pozzecco, whose Asvel lost in Belgrade to Partizan in the previous round and has only secured two wins so far.
“We need to put the last game in our pocket and focus on the next one. At this moment, I am focused on my team, on Zalgiris, rather than scouting the opponent, because it starts with what you can control.
There are many things I need to correct and, I would say, polish, but on the other hand, I want to maintain the great energy and desire that my players showed in the last game” – said Andrea Trinchieri, and then spoke about the opponent:
“Asvel has players who can really shoot and play individually with a lot of talent, such as Joffrey Lauvergne and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot. I also have the utmost basketball respect for David Lighty and Charles Kahudi, as they are elite players.
We are facing a team that defeated us in the first game in Kaunas, so just looking at that scoreboard should be our greatest motivation.”
The game between Asvel and Zalgiris is scheduled for Thursday at 8:00 PM.
