Andreas Obst gave one of the best games of his career during the Mundobasket semi-final clash against the United States.
The German spent 30 minutes on the court, and during that time he scored 24 points with great shooting percentages. In addition, he also hit a key three-pointer in the end, which the German national team gained enough advantage, in order to “survive” the uncertain end and the USA’s attempt to return to the match.
“I am very happy, especially because of the fact that I know how much work we put into this FIBA World Cup. We are ready for the next opponent, Serbia in the final. I know my strong sides of the game, and I realized that I was a significant factor for them in the preparation of the match. I can shoot, go for penetration, I can create space, which I showed” – said Andreas Obst.
A match that especially served as a lesson
“We learned a lot from the warm-up game we played against the USA in Abu Dhabi. We had a double-digit lead then, but ended up losing. We also watched them against Lithuania, and the fact is that we stuck to our plan until the very end. We knew what their weaknesses were,” said Andreas Obst.
Germany is the only undefeated team at this year’s World Cup. They played seven matches and celebrated every time. On the other hand, Serbia reached the final with one defeat, against Italy.
