US national team player, Anthony Edwards, shared his thoughts on potential opponents for his team in the final of the FIBA World Cup.
Edwards is determined to make it to the title match, but the US squad must first overcome Germany before considering their prospects in the other semifinal pairing, featuring Serbia and Canada.
“I can’t wait to watch that match. I’m rooting for Bogdan Bogdanovic. It’s interesting to play against him, but I’m actually cheering more for Nickeil Alexander-Walker. I hope Nickeil will be our opponent in the final,” revealed Edwards, who is a teammate of the Canadian guard in the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Edwards also commented on the team’s strategy for the remainder of the tournament under the leadership of coach Steve Kerr.

“We elevate our defense at the right time. Applying pressure on the ball in half-court defense is our task. The main thing is to continue forcing other teams to play with their backs to the basket,” Edwards stated.
The showdown between the USA and Germany is scheduled for Friday at 14:40. It could have easily been a different scenario, given that Davis Bertans missed a dramatic game-winning shot opportunity for Germany.
Although Dennis Schroder had one of his poorest performances in his career, it didn’t ultimately cost his team, which, like Serbia, secured a spot in the Olympics by advancing to the semifinals.
