Anthony Edwards shared his initial impressions after Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Denver Nuggets.
Despite having a disastrous first half with only four points and shooting 1/8 from the field, he led his team to a 98:90 win, marking the biggest comeback in the history of Game 7s in the NBA playoffs.
He finished the game with 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, hitting a crucial three-pointer to give his team a ten-point lead with three minutes left. Overall, he shot 6/23 from the field but had reason to celebrate.
Interestingly, at the end of the third quarter, with the Timberwolves down 61:58, he told one of the assistant coaches, “I’m finna get in my bag“, which in the loosest translation means he guaranteed success and victory despite the tough situation they were in.
Immediately after the game, Charles Barkley, representing the show “Inside the NBA,” spoke with the Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.
When Barkley mentioned that he hadn’t been to Minneapolis in 20 years and that the Timberwolves would now be playing in the Western Conference Finals, Anthony Edwards briefly replied, “Get your ass over here!” and continued:
“I couldn’t find my own rhythm, so I made an effort to get my teammates going. They were hitting tough shots. I congratulate them for that. I’m not a one-dimensional player. I think I showed that in the fourth quarter when I played defense on Jamal Murray. That turned the game around.
We showed patience and stayed calm the entire time. Even when we were down by 15 points, we told each other that we had to believe, and that carried us through this game. If I had to choose the best player of this game and give the game ball to someone, it would be Jaden McDaniels, without a doubt.”
