In the pre-qualifications for the Olympics, Argentina lost to the Bahamas with 82:75, which eliminated them from the further competition.
Argentina looked better than the opponent in the first quarter, and for the lead of 26:22 after 10 minutes of play, Facundo Campazzo was the most deserving. Thanks to the good sequences of Franc Miller, and the great three-point shot by Eric Gordon, the Bahamas manage to impose their rhythm until halftime, which resulted in a tie – 42:42.
During the third quarter, the momentum was on the side of the Argentines, who before the last 10 minutes managed to gain a two-possession advantage (63:59). At the end of the match, the show was “stolen” by Gordon, who hit three three-pointers and brought the Bahamas a historic victory.
Gordon was the player of the game with 27 points scored, and if we add to that the fact that he hit six three-pointers from seven attempts, it is clear who the Bahamas should celebrate.
The best player in Argentina was Gabriel Deck, who scored 21 points. Experienced Carlos Delfino added 15 points, while Campazzo recorded 14 points and 17 assists.
We remind you that this year, Argentina won’t participate in the FIBA World Cup, and on that way they were stopped by the Dominican Republic. Also, the Bahamas beat them a few days ago with a score of 101:89.
The Bahamas reached the final of the pre-qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games after defeating Uruguay, while Argentina defeated Chile on the other side.
It should also be noted that the Bahamas have never participated in any of the biggest competitions, while Argentina has not missed the Olympic Games since 2000 (Sydney).
