Zalgiris’ first-team player, Arnas Butkevicius, spoke after the game against Crvena Zvezda in the context of the EuroLeague’s second round.
Butkevicius, along with his team, tried to secure their second win after defeating Virtus in the opening round. They managed to do so as the Lithuanian team turned the game around in the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run and defeated the red and white.
“This was a very tough game for us. We played more bad than good basketball, outside of the system. We managed to win only through hard work. We lacked quality. It’s the second game in a row where we’ve been playing like this and ‘pulling’ the victory in the last minutes,” Arnas Butkevicius said.
Before Butkevicius, one of the key players in Zalgiris’ victory with 12 points, Crvena Zvezda’s coach Dusko Ivanovic also spoke.
The Montenegrin coach mentioned which player was an insurmountable obstacle for the red and white, along with an appraisal of Rokas Giedraitis’ skills.
This was a very similar loss for the Serbian team compared to the previous season. Back then, Belgrade practically had the game secured, only to experience a turnaround in the fourth quarter. This time, Zalgiris turned the game around with a 13-0 run.
In the next round, Zalgiris will face Real Madrid on the road. The match is scheduled for Tuesday at 20:45.
