Latvian basketball player Arturs Zagars was one of the players who surprised the most at this FIBA World Cup.
Latvia secured 5th place, and the former Nevezis player from the previous season was one of the key players in Luca Banchi’s team.
Naturally, clubs from the EuroLeague have taken notice of the young man born in 2000, as claimed by Italian journalist Matteo Andreani. Among those interested are Zalgiris, Partizan, and Baskonia.
On the other hand, according to Eurohoops reports, Zagars is closest to reaching an agreement with Fenerbahce.
In the game for fifth place against Lithuania, Zagars set a FIBA World Cup record for the most assists. The Latvian playmaker successfully assisted his teammates 17 times in that match.
Zeljko Obradovic’s team is in search of a playmaker, and Arturs Zagars could potentially be the perfect solution. However, the situation will need to unfold over the next few days. Before Zagars, Greek playmaker Nick Calathes was also linked to Partizan.
In addition to a playmaker, the ABA League champion is also looking for a center to complete their roster for the upcoming season.
During the summer, Partizan has already strengthened its roster with additions like Frank Kaminsky, PJ Dozier, Mateusz Ponitka, and Ognjen Jaramaz, while players such as Mathias Lessort, Dante Exum, Ioannis Papapetrou, and Yam Madar have left the club.
