Asvel couldn’t recover from the heavy loss to Partizan. In the seventh round of the French league, LNB Pro A, they were defeated by Nanterre with a score of 85-81.
It seemed that there would be no problems for the visitors as they opened the game with a 14-2 run. They maintained their lead until the end of the first quarter, finishing the first ten minutes of play with an 11-point advantage.
In the middle of the second quarter, Nanterre improved significantly. Through excellent defense, the home team closed the gap and approached within three points behind by the end of the first half.
Nanterre opened the second half with an 8-0 run and managed to take the lead. Towards the end of the third quarter, the visitors improved their play. With five consecutive points, the Asvel team took a four-point lead, leading 73-69.
However, Nanterre made a comeback with a 9-0 run, and despite Asvel’s attempts to regain the lead, they suffered a defeat.
Justin Bibbins and Benjamin Sene led the home team to victory with 27 points each, while Paris Lee scored 19 points for Asvel.
Nanterre will face Paris in the next round, while Asvel will host Roanne.
