Asvel secured a win against Saint Quentin on their home court by 91:75 in Game 1 of the LNB Pro A quarterfinal series.
Asvel struggled to break the opponent’s resistance in the first half, holding only a minimal 46:45 lead at halftime and not looking particularly strong on the court. However, in the second half, the home team demonstrated why they are a EuroLeague team. They played excellent defense, allowing just 30 points in the entire second half, which proved to be the crucial factor. Pierric Poupet’s team had a lead that extended to 19 points at one point, but the visitors managed to reduce the deficit slightly by the end.
Youssoupha Fall had a fantastic game for Asvel, leading his team to win with 15 points and 17 rebounds. He was followed by Paris Lee with 14 points and nine assists, as well as Edwin Jackson with 12 points. In the losing team, Mathis Dossou-Yovo stood out with 20 points.
The second game of this series will take place on Sunday at 19:00, with Saint Quentin hosting.
In the other game of this term, Bourg managed to defeat Nanterre at home after a comeback, with a score of 92:82, taking the lead in the series.
Nanterre led for much of the game, holding a double-digit lead heading into the final 10 minutes. However, the EuroCup finalist dominated that period with an incredible 41:20 run, which was enough to win Game 1 of the quarterfinal series.
Isiaha Mike led Bourg to win with 22 points, while Bryce Brown added 15. Youngster Zaccharie Risacher contributed 14 points. For the losing team, Justin Bibbins scored 22 points, while Desi Rodriguez had one point less.
Bourg will have the chance to secure their spot in the semifinals on Saturday in a game starting at 20:00.
