Asvel opened their double-header in the EuroLeague this week at home against Maccabi Tel Aviv. After a hard-fought battle, the Israeli team managed to secure a win by 94:91.
The game started quite tough on both sides, with only ten points scored in the first five minutes, and the home team led 6:4. Although Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Joffrey Lauvergne provided a significant lead for Asvel with a five-point advantage, Tamir Blatt closed the first quarter with a buzzer-beating three-pointer from the center, making it 19:17.
Maccabi, fueled by Blatt’s excellent performance, created an 11-0 run to take a lead of 33:22. It seemed that the Israeli team would establish control of the game, but then we witnessed an impressive 15-0 run by Asvel led by Nando De Colo, bringing the score to 37:33, until Gianmarco Pozzecco earned a technical foul.
The remainder of the first half saw an equal game with five lead changes. During the fifteen-minute break, the French representative in the EuroLeague held a minimal advantage, 46:45.
