Austin Hollins, just a few days after terminating his contract with Zalgiris Kaunas, has signed with AEK Athens.
The former Crvena Zvezda player will be with “The Queen” until the end of this season. He signed with Zalgiris in December 2023 for three weeks, a trial period that was extended for an additional two weeks. However, Andrea Trinchieri decided not to keep him for a longer term. In eight EuroLeague games, he averaged 3.9 points and one rebound.
AEK will play against Murcia, Hapoel Holon, and the familiar rival Promitheas in the Round of 16 of the FIBA Champions League. Before coming to Kaunas, Austin Hollins was a free agent and had played for Crvena Zvezda, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Zenit, and Vechta. With the Red and Whites, he won the ABA League championship and the Serbian national title.
He has been praised by his peers for his good defence and fighting spirit. This is his tenth season in Europe. AEK has welcomed and seen out a lot of players this season, but they are still competing for the FIBA Champions League trophy and they currently sit comfortably at the sixth spot in the Greek League.
