Coach Goorjian will lead Australia from the sidelines for the second time. He expressed his excitement about the blend of young talents and experienced players.
“We are looking forward to the challenge ahead. We have new young players who know their roles. We have developed our playing style both offensively and defensively and will implement it during the tournament,” emphasized the head coach.
Mills and Ingles are the most seasoned players on the team. They mentioned that the team has already made significant progress and are thrilled to represent the “Boomers.”
“Up to this point, the campaign has been fantastic. As a team, we have accomplished great things during the training camp in Cairns and the preparation matches in Melbourne, Tokyo, and Okinawa,” said the co-captains, adding:
“We have an incredible group of extremely talented young players. They have worked hard on and off the court. We all share a common goal – winning the gold medal,” concluded the experienced NBA players.
The Oceania team will compete in Group E in Okinawa against Germany, Finland, and the host country Japan. The FIBA World Cup is scheduled from August 25th to September 10th.
