After posting a farewell message to Virtus on social media, it is evident that Awudu Abass will be leaving the team and seeking a new opportunity.
Following four years with Virtus, having joined the team in 2020, Abass is now free to explore new options.
During his time with Virtus, Abass won the EuroCup in 2022, one Serie A title, and three Italian Super Cups. In the previous EuroLeague season, he averaged 4.4 points, 2 rebounds, and 0.5 steals in 12 minutes per game over 31 appearances.
“To all Virtus fans, a big thank you. Please continue to respect Awudu Abass as a person. I sacrificed a lot for this club, but it is time to part ways. Stay great and thank you from the bottom of my heart!” wrote the now former Bologna team player on Instagram.

“The National Team and the Pre-Olympic are my priorities at the moment. On the future, however, I wait for Virtus, as soon as they decide to come to me I will be well willing to try to find an agreement. Meanwhile I am looking around, since June 30 my contract expires and I can not risk being without a team” – Awudu Abass told for Corriere dello Sport just few days ago.
Abass has attracted interest from Hapoel Jerusalem, Milano, and newly promoted Serie A team Trapani. Throughout his career, he has never played outside Italy, having previously played for Cantu, Brescia, and Milano.
