Barcelona lost in the Copa Del Rey final against Real Madrid, but within the Catalan camp, there is talk about the refereeing in last night’s game.
Roger Grimau, in his media address, highlighted several situations he criticized the referees for, and to put it mildly, he criticized them.
“In three minutes, they expelled one of our best players. Surely, they review fouls later, but I don’t know if the criteria are the same. Because some players play 34 minutes in the second team and commit three fouls. And I like him as a player because he is very good, but he pressures the entire game… For Hernangomez to get a technical foul after having to listen that this is not the NBA league… Surely, we didn’t lose because of the referees, but…”
He wasn’t the only one speaking about the refereeing, Nico Laprovittola also thundered:
“It’s not me who should be talking about it and criticizing, but the refereeing wasn’t good. They weren’t bad at the very end, but throughout the whole game.”
Alex Abrines, who is the team captain, was a bit more moderate:
“I don’t think we lost because of the referees, our offensive rebounding wasn’t working. But it’s true that the criteria weren’t the same, and they stopped us in several actions when we were trying to get back into the game.”
It’s worth noting that Barcelona has lost four out of the last five games against their biggest rival in all competitions.
