In the seventh round of the prestigious European basketball competition, the EuroLeague, Baskonia visited Olympiacos in Piraeus, Greece. Baskonia defeated Olympiacos 75:74.
Before the game, it was announced that Luke Sikma and Shaquielle McKissic would not be playing for Olympiacos. Nico Mannion’s absence from Baskonia’s lineup was in question before tonight game and he did not play.
After a balanced start to the second half, where the teams were practically exchanging baskets, Olympiacos managed to get back into the game. Isaiah Canaan nailed four three-pointers along with a drive for 14 points, bringing his team within seven points, and at that moment, Piraeus was electrified. Vanja Marinkovic struggled with three consecutive misses, and Baskonia faced offensive challenges. The game full of variations was confirmed in the third quarter, which the Greeks won 25:17.
Moustapha Fall with another all-around game
Isaiah Caanan led the scoring for the home team with 23 points, followed by Alek Peters with 22 points and eight rebounds, and Moustapha Fall with 10 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three blocks. In the winning team, Chima Moneke contributed 20 points, Tadas Sedekerskis scored 12 along with 13 rebounds, and Markus Howard added 11.
In the next round, Olympiacos will travel to Belgrade to face Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Baskonia is set to take on Barelona.
