Bayern suffered a shocking loss in the first game of the Bundesliga quarterfinals against Ludwigsburg, losing 102:98 in overtime.
The Bavarians had the lead throughout the entire first half, but it was never comfortable. The visitors were always close and did not allow Pablo Laso’s team to pull away at any point.
After the third quarter, the situation improved for the team in red. They had a 14-point lead, but Ludwigsburg didn’t give up. There was a turnaround, and it seemed they would secure a major victory in regulation time. However, Andreas Obst hit a big turnaround three-pointer to tie the game and force overtime.
Despite this, the Bavarians couldn’t pull through. The underdogs played bravely when it mattered most and managed to secure a victory in the BMW Park.
For the visitors, Silas Melson was outstanding, scoring 33 points. Desure Buie followed with 20 points. On the other side, Carsen Edwards scored 25 points, and Obst added 16. Bayern will have a chance for a rematch on May 20th.
Ulm didn’t start their title defense well. They lost to Wurzburg in front of their home crowd with a score of 78:65.
