In the fifth round of the EuroCup, Besiktas secured a home win against the Venezia team by 74-68, marking their fourth win in the competition.
Under the leadership of Dusan Alimpijevic, the team has started the new season strongly, recording their fourth win. The Italian guests primarily challenged the home team with solid defense in the first half, resulting in a score of 42-40 in favor of Neven Spahija’s team.
However, in the second half, Besiktas played much tougher defense, limiting the Italian guests to only 26 points for the half, leading to a comfortable win for the home team.
Matthew Mitchell was the top scorer for Besiktas with 15 points, and Derek Needham and Leyton Hammonds also had excellent performances with 13 points each.
On the losing side, Italian international Marco Spissu was the leading scorer with 15 points.
In the upcoming round, Besiktas will host Hamburg, while Venezia will welcome the Cedevita Olimpija.
In the Group A match, Paris faced Prometey, with the visiting team comfortably winning 96-79, securing their fifth victory in as many games in the EuroCup.
Prometey only offered resistance in the first quarter, winning that period 22-17. However, in the following quarters, we witnessed the complete dominance of the Paris team, as they convincingly won all three remaining quarters. Paris once again demonstrated why they are considered the top favorites for winning the EuroCup.
Nadir Hifi was the top performer for Paris with 20 points, closely followed by Mikael Jantunen with 15 points. Leon Kratzer had a fantastic game with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
On the home team, Ronald March was the leading scorer with 23 points.
Paris remains undefeated, while Prometey now has a 2-3 record. In the next round, Prometey will play against BC Wolves on the road, while Paris will host Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
In Group B, a match was played between Aris and Cluj-Napoca, and the Romanian team secured a win by 61-59, marking their fourth win in this competition.
In the Cluj-Napoca team, the top performers were Andrija Stipanovic with 13 points and Mareks Mejeris with 12 points, while on the losing side, Roberto Gallinat stood out with 15 points.
After this victory, Cluj-Napoca holds a 4-1 record, while Aris now has a 2-3 record. In the next round, Aris will visit Buducnost, while Cluj-Napoca will host Ulm.
