Besiktas recorded a convincing win on the road against Buyukcekmece by 86-70 in the fifth round of the Turkish Super League.
As a reminder, the black-and-white team entered this match after a rather shocking defeat to Wolves.
Besiktas established a double-digit lead early in the game (13-2), which they effectively maintained until the end of the first quarter (25-10). Buyukcekmece made a comeback with an 11-0 run (28-23), but Dusan Alimpijevic’s team managed to fend off their opponent’s surge and went into halftime with a nine-point lead (43-34).
The third quarter followed a similar pattern to the second, resulting in a nine-point advantage for Besiktas at the start of the final 10 minutes (64-55). Just two and a half minutes of play in the final period were enough for Alimpijevic’s team to settle the matter of the winner (76-57) and secure another well-deserved victory.
The top scorer for the home team was Marcquise Reed with 28 points, while Jonah Mathews led Besiktas with 20.
Besiktas is currently second in the Turkish Super League standings with a record of three wins and two losses, while Buyukcekmece is in sixth place with a 2-3 record.
In the next round, Buyukcekmece will be visiting Cagdas Bodrum Sport, while Besiktas will face Manisa.
Of course, it’s worth noting that the team from Istanbul has a game against Venezia in the EuroCup before that.
