Bogdan Bogdanovic played a truly outstanding game in the Atlanta Hawks’ 129-122 loss to the Denver Nuggets.
The reigning NBA champions opened the game in better spirits, but soon the Atlanta Hawks managed to take a double-digit lead in the opening quarter. As the game progressed, the Denver Nuggets played better during the second quarter, leading at halftime with a score of 65-62.
The impression is that the question of the winner was settled in the third quarter when Nikola Jokic and company built a massive 20-point lead, paving the way for victory. Bogdan Bogdanovic did not give up even in those moments, bringing his team to a single-digit deficit, but it was not enough to avoid the loss.
Serbian national team player Bogdan Bogdanovic finished the game with an impressive 40 points in 35 minutes on the court. He made 14 out of 24 field goals, scoring an astonishing ten three-pointers out of 17 attempts. In addition to his scoring, he contributed with three rebounds and three assists.
By coming off the bench and scoring 40 points with 10 three-pointers, he became only the second player in NBA history to achieve this feat. JR Smith was the only one to do so before him, wearing the Denver Nuggets jersey, the team that Bogdanovic faced tonight, setting a career record.
Furthermore, Bogdanovic tied the franchise record for the number of three-pointers made in a single game as a reserve. The previous record-holder was Danilo Gallinari, who made ten three-pointers.
On the other side, the winning team was led by Jamal Murray with 29 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Nikola Jokic contributed to the triumph with 25 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, coming close to a another triple-double performance.
