Bojan Dubljevic during the press conference ahead of the match against Mexico, shared his impressions and expectations.
Montenegro will be playing its second FIBA World Cup. Four years ago, they didn’t manage to advance to the second phase. Now, the Montenegrins aim to make a better impression. Captain Bojan Dubljevic is aware that even qualifying for the competition is a significant achievement.
“It’s a big deal for us to be here at all, as we’re a small country. It’s truly a great thing to compete in such an event. Our performance four years ago was good, but now we want more. We want to advance from the group and then surprise in second round“
For Dubljevic, wearing the Montenegro jersey holds a special feeling.
“It’s different when you play for the national team. We don’t have much time to prepare, or to recover. Games are played every two days and everyone gives maximum. We have a team with a lot of experience.
Four years ago, we came to the World Cup without knowing what to expect. We were overjoyed to be part of it all. Now, everything is familiar to us, and we want to push further” said the captain of Montenegro.
Montenegro will compete in Group D at the FIBA World Cup, facing opponents Mexico, Egypt, and Lithuania.
