After Montenegro’s triumph over Mexico in the first match of the FIBA World Cup, head coach Bosko Radovic addressed the media representatives, expressing his thoughts on the team’s performance.
The Montenegrin squad began their FIBA World Cup campaign with a victory, which stands as the most crucial outcome of the day. Although Mexico threatened at several points during the game, they lacked the strength to counter everything orchestrated by Nikola Vucevic.
“First and foremost, I congratulate the Mexican national team on a good match and my players on the win. The most important thing today is that we secured a victory. We started somewhat nervously in attack, but we maintained aggression in defense throughout the game. We need to improve our offensive performance. We scored 91 points but lost possession 11 times, seven of which were in the first half,” said Bosko Radovic at the beginning of his statement.

“I might sound a bit immodest…”
“Our primary focus was on commencing the FIBA World Cup with a win. We managed to neutralize their guards and shooters who posed the greatest threat. I might sound a bit immodest, but despite scoring 91 points, we still need to refine the accuracy of executing certain offensive moves.”
He emphasized that the victory will soon be forgotten as the team must now prepare for their upcoming match against Egypt in two days, which is equally significant.
Nikola Vucevic
“Thank you for the question; I nearly fell asleep (laughter). I’ve known Nikola for many years. I was an assistant coach when we prepared for previous competitions. Today, I express great pleasure in having such a player on the team. All these players have made their contributions, but now we are in the best lineup.
Even though he hasn’t been with us for four years, he brought significant quality to our team. We’re talking about numerous offensive options, but tonight, the one we saw worked. As for why there isn’t more talk about him, honestly, I don’t know. That’s a question for the public and journalists in Montenegro.
They might overlook me, but these players had a good European Championship and qualifications. We deserved more media attention. There were a few journalists here a few days before all this started, but during our twenty-day preparations in Bar, we were quite isolated,” Bosko Radovic explained.
As Montenegro progresses in the FIBA World Cup, they are eager to continue their successful streak and aim to make their nation proud with their performances.
