Bronny James has attracted the most attention among all the guys drafted in the 2024 class, due to the fact that he will play with his dad.
The younger James was drafted as the 55th pick in the NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He will almost certainly be playing with LeBron James, who is his father. This situation has sparked a lot of comments, and it seems to affect the young man somewhat.
“Sure, I feel increased pressure because of it. I’ve already seen comments on social media and the internet saying that maybe I don’t deserve the opportunity. However, I’ve been dealing with such things my whole life. So it’s not any different now, it’s just that the pressure is even more intense, but I’ll overcome it,” said Bronny James.
At the University of Southern California, he spent only one year and feels that he wasn’t given enough of a chance.
“I feel like I could have refined my game more. It’s like I wasn’t given the opportunity to show what I can really do. I’m excited about what’s coming.”
He’s not focused on playing with his father:
“Rob Pelinka told me that there’s a great development system here, so I just want to come in, do my job, and get better every day. I never thought about playing with my dad. That wasn’t my main focus.”
As a reminder, this will be the first father-son duo in NBA history, and young James will surely be under public scrutiny next year. The Los Angeles Lakers last season failed to make it out of the first round where they lost to the Denver Nuggets in five games. They hired JJ Redick as a brand new head coach who replaced the fired Darvin Ham.
