Bronny James has decided to remain in the 2024 NBA draft pool, according to confirmation from agent Rich Paul to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony.
The deadline for NCAA early entrants to withdraw from the draft pool and retain college eligibility passed recently, and while several players opted to return to school, Bronny James chose to stay in the draft after showcasing improvements at this month’s combine and a recent pro day.
Bronny, who faced a cardiac arrest last July but was later cleared to return to the court, played 25 games for USC as a freshman. However, his performance was modest, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.3 minutes per game, with shooting percentages of .366/.267/.676.
Despite his underwhelming college debut, Bronny’s draft stock has risen recently, moving him from a fringe prospect to a draftable one, currently ranking 54th overall on ESPN’s big board. His explosiveness and improved three-point shooting during the pre-draft process have contributed to this surge.
