Brooklyn Nets will officially retire the No. 15 jersey, worn by Vince Carter from 2004 to 2009 before he was traded to the Orlando Magic.
Last month, it was announced that Vince Carter, along with Chauncey Billups, will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Shortly after that, another great honor for the popular ‘Vincanity.’ The jersey he wore for the New Jersey Nets from 2004 to 2009 will be retired and hung in the rafters of the arena.
The Nets announced this morning in a video that Carter’s jersey will be retired. Carter, with a smile, briefly commented: “Oh, s***.”
Although Carter is recognized for his time with the Toronto Raptors and for popularizing basketball in Canada, he didn’t play any worse during his time with the then New Jersey Nets. In his career, he scored 25,728 points, and more than a third of those points were scored with the Nets – 8,834.
This way, Carter joins Jason Kidd (No. 5), Dracen Petrovic (No. 3), John Williamson (No. 23), Bill Melchionni (No. 25), Julius Erving (No. 32), and Buck Williams (No. 52).
