In the 19th round of the ABA League, Buducnost faced Crvena Zvezda on their home court and celebrated by 84:62.
At the very beginning of the game, Buducnost had a much stronger start, taking an 8:3 lead fueled by Marvin Jones. Shortly after, we witnessed a tie at 10:10, followed by four consecutive dunks in four successive attacks from both sides. Vladimir Mihailovic’s three-pointer gave them a 15:12 lead, and McKinley Wright’s seven points in the final moments of the first quarter secured a 22:18 advantage after ten minutes of play.
Allerik Freeman and Kenan Kamenjas, with impressive performances at the start of the second period, brought Buducnost its first double-digit lead (29:18). Despite coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos taking a timeout, it didn’t bring success. Buducnost extended their lead to 14 points, guided by the dynamic play of Yogi Ferrell. Buducnost’s dominance in rebounds after 20 minutes (19:8) and Crvena Zvezda’s poor three-point shooting (2/13) allowed the home team to lead 46:36 heading into the next phase of the game.
Just as the Red-Whites narrowed the deficit to just six points, Mihailovic and Ferrell nailed two consecutive three-pointers to extend the lead to plus 12. At that moment, someone threw a water cup onto the court, causing a disruption for several minutes. Petar Popovic addressed the fans, and when the game resumed, the home team held a 54:42 advantage. By the end of the third quarter, the Red-Whites reduced the opponent’s lead to 59:51.
Fletcher Magee came alive at the start of the final quarter, with Buducnost relying on him to maintain a double-digit lead. Milos Teodosic was on the court with four personal fouls, a kind of risk taken by the Greek coach. Crvena Zvezda players struggled to make three-pointers, hitting only 2 out of 21 attempts six minutes before the end.
