Buducnost opened their EuroCup campaign with a tough victory, defeating Lietkabelis 76-65 in a Group B match.
Buducnost had a better start and led 15-8. However, Lietkabelis made a comeback and had an eight-point lead in the middle of the second quarter, going into halftime with a 38-31 advantage.
At the beginning of the second half, Lietkabelis extended their lead to 14 points. With an 18-1 run, Buducnost managed to turn the game around by the end of the third quarter. In the final ten minutes, Montenegrin team continued to play well and secured the victory.
JaCorey Williams and McKinley Wright led Buducnost with 13 points each, while Gabrielius Maldunas had 16 points for Lietkabelis.
Turk Telekom, led by coach Nenad Canak, suffered a defeat on their away game against Cluj by 80-71.
The first half was disastrous for the Ankara-based team. After 20 minutes of basketball, the home team had a 24-point lead. In the second half of the game, Turk Telekom played much better. They managed to come back and reduce the deficit to just two points. However, Cluj resisted the opponent’s comeback and secured the victory.
Bryce Jones and Karel Guzman led their team to victory with 14 points each, while Tyrone Wallace scored 18 points for Turk Telekom.
Ukrainian team Prometey secured a convincing victory by defeating Hamburg by 97-77. Marcus Keene led his team to victory with 18 points, while Aljami Durhan scored 15 points for the opposing side.
The defending champions, Gran Canaria, won an away game against Aris with a score of 82-66.
