Buducnost won against Bourg by 78:74 on their home court in the Eurocup 14th round, securing their 6th win of the season.
With this triumph, Buducnost ended the magical streak of the French team with ten consecutive wins in all competitions, defeating the top-placed team in Group B, which had already secured a spot in the playoffs. Out of these, seven wins were recorded in the EuroCup, making this win even more significant for the team led by coach Andrej Zakelj.
Buducnost had a brilliant start to the game with a 9:0 run, but it’s worth noting that seven of those points came from free throws. Then, they went over five minutes without scoring, and Bourg took advantage to narrow the gap to 9:8. The match wasn’t particularly attractive or efficient in the opening quarter, with Buducnost leading 15:14.
Bourg took the lead for the first time after 12 minutes by 17:15, but Buducnost managed to stay close mainly from the free-throw line. The French team, primarily due to three-point shooting, achieved their biggest lead of plus six (28:22) by that point. Buducnost failed to make a single three-point shot in the first 20 minutes (0:9), so Bourg led 37:30 before the continuation of the match.
The top scorers for the winning team were McKinley Wright with 16 points and Yoan Makoundou with 12 points and six rebounds, with a crucial contribution in the final moments. In Bourg, Jequan Lewis was the standout with 13 points, matching Jeremy Morgan’s scoring.
In the next round of the EuroCup, the Montenegrin team will be on the road against Aris in Greece, while Bourg will host Lietkabelis.
