Cholet secured their place in the group stage of the FIBA Champions League as the French representative triumphed over Brindisi with a score of 80-69 in the final of the qualifiers.
Brindisi had a strong start to the game, taking a 12-3 lead with excellent play on both ends of the court. However, Cholet managed to turn the tide by the end of the first quarter, going on an 18-8 run to take a lead in points.
Cholet continued their improved performance into the second quarter, building an 11-point lead at one point. They went into halftime with a 45-37 lead.
Throughout the remainder of the game, there was little change on the court. Cholet’s team continued to increase their lead through solid defense, at one point holding a 16-point advantage. However, Brindisi did not give up easily.
The Italian representative managed to mount a comeback in the final quarter, narrowing the gap to just six points. Yet, they didn’t have enough energy for a complete turnaround and ultimately had to congratulate their opponents on the victory.
Neal Sako led his team to triumph with 19 points, while on the other side, Jamel Morris was the top scorer with 15 points.
Cholet’s opponents in the FIBA Champions League are also now known. The French team has been placed in Group C and will compete to advance against Darussafaka, Riga, and Tenerife.
