Chus Mateo, the head coach of Real Madrid, has stated that his team must gradually integrate Guerschon Yabusele and Carlos Alocen into the lineup to ensure a complete and successful recovery from their injuries.
Real Madrid has had an excellent start to the season, holding a perfect 7-0 record in the Spanish league and leading as the only undefeated team in the EuroLeague.
Yabusele, who was at the center of a brawl during the EuroLeague quarterfinals against Partizan, has been dealing with a knee injury. The power forward did not play against Palencia, which Real Madrid defeated 91-68 in the Spanish league.
The gradual integration of Yabusele and Alocen into the lineup is crucial to their full recovery and ensuring their contributions to the team’s success.
“Guerschon suffered a hyperextension of the knee during one of the training sessions, but fortunately, there were no structural damages. There are no fractures, and we believe he will return to practice next week. His recovery is progressing at a satisfactory pace, and we look forward to his return to the rotation in the near future,” Chus Mateo stated.
The coach emphasized that the club is being especially cautious with Carlos Alocen, who experienced an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his knee a year and a half ago.
“We are very patient with Carlos, and it will continue that way. We are awaiting assessments of his condition, and then we will gradually integrate him into the team. He will have an opportunity when he feels ready. We are taking care of him, although he is training at full intensity, and we are waiting for the moment when he can play,” added Mateo.
Real’s next match is against Granada on Sunday at 12:30, as the game against Maccabi in Tel Aviv has been canceled.
