FMP defeated Cibona in Drazen Petrovic Basketball Hall, in Zagreb, by 93:89 in the second round of the ABA League.
In the first half, it was a closely contested game until the end of the second quarter when the home team managed to pull away with three-pointers from players like Aleksandar Aranitovic, Ivan Majcunic, and Alex Stein. They nullified the efforts of the rival duo Hugo Besson and Aleksa Stepanovic.
“The Wolves” held an eight-point lead, but Cibona made a comeback late in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to five points heading into the final quarter. FMP had a nine-point lead with a minute and a half left, but Cibona managed to tie the game once again. However, Besson scored a crucial layup to give FMP a two-point lead, and Bojan Subotic secured the victory with free throws in the tense final moments.
The leading scorers for the winners were Besson and Stepanovic with 22 and 21 points, respectively. Alex Stein led the home team with 18 points.
In the next round, Cibona will face Partizan on the road, while FMP will host Mega.
