Olympiacos basketball player Shaq McKissic emphasized that his team is the best in Europe in an interview with Eurohoops.
Shaq McKissic won’t have the help of last season’s key players as Kostas Sloukas joined Panathinaikos, and Sasha Vezenkov is now with the Sacramento Kings. However, this hasn’t stopped him from being confident about the upcoming challenges.
“With all due respect to everyone, when it comes to the EuroLeague, because there are many quality teams, but… we are already the best, and we’ll see if we can stay that way” – McKissic said.
The “Peace and Friendship” Arena saw the departure of two very important first-team players, but there were also several arrivals, including Nikola Milutinov, who is returning to wear the jersey of the Greek giants after a three-year hiatus.
“I see the same things in the locker room. Of course, we miss Vezenkov. You can’t replace him, neither as a player nor as a person, but we are trying to make up for it in other ways. Defensively, we are structured in a way that I don’t believe anyone is ready for it. When I look at the locker room, I see players like Milutinov and Moustapha Fall. I don’t know what the other teams’ plans will be. I’m sure they will have some strategy” – McKissic commented for Eurohoops.
Olympiacos will play in the semifinals of the Greek Super Cup against Peristeri on Friday at 16:00. In the second match, PAOK and Panathinaikos will face off.
The two biggest Greek clubs will go head-to-head to kick off the new EuroLeague season.
