Crvena Zvezda suffered its 11th defeat in the EuroLeague, losing away to Panathinaikos by 82:65.
At the beginning of the game, defenses were strong on both sides. The team from Belgrade took a 7:4 lead, but the home team turned the game around with a 7:0 run. The Red and Whites responded and scored four consecutive points. Towards the end of the first quarter, Panathinaikos played better, enjoying a five-point lead at one point, and they finished the first ten minutes with a 20:17 advantage.
The start of the second quarter saw another intense period of play. The home team managed to build a six-point lead, but a three-pointer by Nemanja Nedovic brought the red and whites within two points. However, the Greek runner-up had a swift response.
With five consecutive points and a three-pointer from Kostas Sloukas, the home team took a 34:27 lead. At one point, Panathinaikos had a nine-point advantage. Although the attackers struggled towards the end of the first half, Crvena zvezda went into halftime trailing by seven points.
With two consecutive three-pointers at the start of the second half, Panathinaikos reached a double-digit lead for the first time. With six consecutive points, the red and whites reduced the deficit to 44:39. Midway through the third quarter, the home team pulled away again and gained an 11-point lead. In the closing moments of the third period, the red and whites had a chance to narrow the gap, but they couldn’t succeed.
The visiting team didn’t give up, attempting to stage a comeback through defense, but they lacked offensive efficiency. Panathinaikos maintained control over the game and held onto the lead without significant issues. The Greek team concluded the game smoothly, securing their fourth consecutive victory.
Dinos Mitoglou led his team to triumph with 15 points, while Joel Bolomboy and Nemanja Nedovic each had 15 points on the other side.
Panathinaikos now has ten wins and seven losses, and they will face Baskonia in the next match. The red and whites are currently at six victories and 11 defeats, with an upcoming away game against Fenerbahce in the next round.
