Damion Lee has opted out of his $2.8 million player option with the Phoenix Suns for the 2024-25 season, but per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he will be returning to the team on a one-year contract.
Once fully recovered, Damion Lee is expected to enhance the Suns’ depth at the shooting guard position, which currently features stars like Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Grayson Allen. Lee is poised to fill the gap left by Eric Gordon, who recently signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.

This signing brings the Suns’ roster to 14 players, leaving one roster spot still open.
Lee missed the entire 2023-24 season due to a right meniscus injury that required surgery.
After joining the Suns for the 2022-23 season, Lee played in 74 games (starting in five), averaging 8.2 points on 44.2% shooting and an impressive 44.5% from three-point range. He also contributed three rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in 20.4 minutes on the court.
The following offseason, Lee and the Suns agreed on a contract that included his recent player option.
Lee began his NBA journey with the Atlanta Hawks as an undrafted rookie from Louisville in 2016.
During the 2017-18 season, he played 15 games (11 starts) under new Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer, averaging 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 26.9 minutes per game. He initially signed two 10-day contracts with the Hawks before securing a deal for the remainder of the season.
