Danilo Andjusic will continue to play for Partizan in the upcoming season, and along with some players without national team obligations, he has begun preparations for the next season.
Partizan’s coach, Zeljko Obradovic, has started working with the ABA League champions, which includes both younger and more experienced players who expressed the desire to join.
One of the more seasoned players who has been with the team from day one is Danilo Andjusic. He mentioned that he utilized the summer for rest and arrived on the first day of training with great enthusiasm.
“I took advantage of the summer to rest, and in the last few weeks, I’ve been training to arrive well-prepared for the start of the preparations. Similar to every year, I’ve been working on conditioning since early July, both individually and on basketball skills. These initial training sessions focus on aspects that can be improved during this period, as we don’t have much time for extensive work during the season,” said Andjusic.
After a demanding season that culminated in winning the ABA League title, how refreshing was the break?
“It was quite refreshing. Physically, you recover relatively quickly, but emotionally, we were all drained after such a fantastic season, crowned with a title. We were emotionally exhausted for the first couple of weeks. After the match, we needed to reflect on our achievements, rest well, recharge our batteries, and approach the new season with renewed energy.”
What are your impressions now that things have settled down?
“Truly phenomenal. We achieved a remarkable result. Maybe on the day we achieved it, we weren’t fully aware. Today marks exactly two months since it happened. We’ve had an exceptional season behind us. The only regret is the near miss of the EuroLeague Final Four. Regardless, I believe we performed well in the EuroLeague. Winning the title after so many years and once again being the most successful club in the ABA League means a lot to us and our fans.”
In the new season, the black-and-white team retains the core from the previous season and has added some new players, including Ognjen Jaramaz, Mateusz Ponitka, and P. J. Dozier.
“It’s fantastic that we’ve retained the team’s core, which has been playing together for a while. That’s a significant advantage. Adapting will be easier, and I believe the new players will integrate smoothly with us. Our goals remain the same as last year: defending the ABA League title. Personally, I’d love to secure the Korać Cup, win our domestic league, and progress as far as possible in the EuroLeague. Our aim is the playoffs and the Final Four; we have ambitious goals, and we’re moving forward,” Andjusic concluded in an interview with BC Partizan TV.
