NBA veteran Danny Green has agreed to a new deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, as initially reported by NBC Sports.
Green is returning to Philadelphia, where he spent the period between 2020 and 2022. He has signed a one-year contract, and it is noted that the roles of Nick Nurse and Joel Embiid played a significant role in convincing the American guard to join the 76ers’ training camp.
In the previous season, the three-time NBA champion played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Cleveland Cavaliers, appearing in a total of 11 games.
Over his 830 games in the NBA, playing for six different teams, he averaged 8.7 points. He was most prominent during his time with the San Antonio Spurs, where he played from 2010 to 2018. Under Gregg Popovich, he established himself as a top-tier defender and three-point shooter.
He is one of only four players in history to win three NBA titles with three different franchises. The others to achieve this feat are Robert Horry, LeBron James, and John Salley.
Green won his championship rings with the Spurs, followed by a single season with the Toronto Raptors in 2019, and in the 2020 bubble with the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, his career has seen a decline, and he suffered a serious injury during the 2022 playoffs against the Miami Heat.
