Davis Bertans, a representative of Latvia, summarized his initial impressions after the quarterfinal match of the FIBA World Cup against Germany.
Latvia’s dream at the World Cup came to an end in the quarterfinals, with only one shot separating them from competing for medals. They were defeated with a score of 81-79 after a dramatic finish. It was Bertans himself who missed the opportunity to bring victory to his team by missing a three-point shot seconds before the end.
“I am proud of my team! We fought in every game, and we put ourselves in this position because we played as a team. Unfortunately, that game-winning shot didn’t go in,” said Davis Bertans.
Game-winning shot
“The only goal was to give it our all against every opponent. From the moment we gathered and played friendly matches as part of our preparations, all the way to today. I believe we have succeeded in that.”
Arturs Zagars and the potential NBA engagement
“We’re here to play for the national team, none of us are thinking about what will happen later. We believe in Arturs, he’s one of the main reasons we’ve come this far. But now, we’ll focus all our concentration on the next two games.”
