Panathinaikos coach Ergin Ataman was far from pleased with how his team performed in the game against Maroussi in the Greek League.
Ataman led his team to victory against the former European powerhouse but immediately expressed his dissatisfaction with their approach.
“I don’t care that we had a big lead in the first three quarters. We played terribly in the end. The performance of some players is unacceptable. We need to work even harder. This is not the image I want to see from my team. The basketball we displayed in the fourth quarter was miserable.
It’s a dangerous mentality. We will make some important changes starting now. We talked about it in the locker room. We’ll begin hard work tomorrow to prepare for the EuroLeague game against Bayern,” said the Turkish coach at the time.
As reported by Basketnews, Ergin Ataman had an answer for such a performance, which included four and a half hours of video analysis, plus two hours of training. All of this preparation was ahead of their EuroLeague game against Bayern on Thursday at 8:15 PM.
“We spent four hours in the video analysis room. Maybe next week, we’ll spend seven. We are working hard; we are a new team, and honestly, in those four hours, we didn’t focus on Bayern. We analyzed our mistakes and saw what we did well. It had nothing to do with the next opponent,” said Ataman.
